What I Like About Criss Library Video Contest

Rules and Requirements


  • Contest open to all currently enrolled UNO students, with the exception of those employed by the Criss or KANEKO-UNO Libraries
  • The video length is minimum 1 minute to a maximum of 3 minutes
  • The theme is "What I like about the new Criss Library"
  • Content should be informative and entertaining and should include the creator's positive opinion and/or experience in the newly renovated Criss Library
  • Videos should contain the following elements
    • A scene inside the Criss Library
    • The text or audio "University of Nebraska at Omaha"
    • The text or audio "Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library" or "Criss Library"
    • The title of the video (as indicated on the contest form(s))
  • Content should be appropriate for viewing by the general public
    • All forms must be complete, signed, and returned to Criss Library to be considered for contest. After verification of current student status an email will be sent to the contestant containing complete contest rules and procedure for video submission
    • Contestants must obtain permission from any and all persons appearing in the video, and must submit contact information (name, e-mail address, and telephone number) for these individuals for the purpose of permission verification by Criss Library
    • Contestants must sign agreement that video submissions become the property of the Criss Library for in-library and YouTube display
  •  Videos will be posted on YouTube by contestants and must conform to YouTube's guidelines.
  • Contestants should also not violate guidelines set out in the the UNO Student Code of Conduct or  U.S. Copyright Law. Please consult with Joyce Neujahr if you have questions about copyright law.

Judging

  • Videos will be judged by a selected panel of UNO Faculty, Staff, and Student Assistants on their originality, creativity, relation to the theme, and aesthetic appeal and by a popular vote by the UNO community.  Community will vote by survey monkey to determine top three videos from five videos chosen by panel.

Deadlines

  • Contest begins October 23
  • Videos must be posted to the Library's Contest You Tube Account by Monday November 23, 2009.
  • Judging panel will determine top 5 videos
  • UNO Community Voting will take place December 1, through midnight December 9, 2009  via survey monkey

Prizes

  • A screening will be held of the top five videos on Friday Dec. 11 at 3:00 pm in the Theatre Room. An awards Ceremony will immediatly follow the screening.
  • Prizes for the top three winning videos are:
    • First place, flash camera
    • Second place, digital picture frame
    • Third place, Mav Gear

Need More Information?

On October 23 at 7:00pm in room 232. All interested participants will be given details concerning rules/regulations, show example videos, and demonstrate equipment the library has available for checkout.

More About the Library's Media Equipment

The Library has 4 flip cameras and 4 Sony Handycam DCR-DVD505 Digital Video Camera Redcorders available for a three day check out. Sony Handycam users must provide their own 8 cm DVD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD+RW disc.  Camcorders come with 1GB memory stick, operating guide, USB cable, charger, AC adapter, and carry case. This item may be used in conjunction with the camcroder accessory pac and/or a camcorder tripod.  Flip cameras come with an adjustable mini-tripod and include a rechargable battery. Flip cameras include their own editing software and download easily with the "flip" USB connection.
