using the Leo proxy server from AOL versions 3.0 or higher.

Some electronic indexes (databases) may not work correctly when using the integrated browser that is supplied with AOL. The browser provided by AOL is limited and configured to work only with standard websites. This is called a crippled browser. If you experience problems using the Leo proxied databases with your AOL browser, you must install a fully functional browser. The "standard browsers" are Netscape Navigator 3.x or higher or Internet Explorer 3.02 or higher. Both are available at no charge from the manufacturers.

Please Note: AOL limits the size of files that you can download. Netscape Communicator (full version) exceeds the AOL download limit. You can either select the "stand alone Navigator" version or use the Netscape "SmartDownload" feature for Communicator. Both options are available from the link below.

  1. After downloading and installing the browser, connect to AOL as usual.
  2. Once you have connected, launch your non-crippled browser and select an index link from the Library website.
