Central Search
Tell Us What You Think. Take a few moments to give us your opinion about Central Search—do you love it, hate it, have no idea what it is....we want to know!!!
Central Search allows you to simultaneously search multiple UNO Library databases. Remember though, not all UNO Library databases are included within Central Search.
Search Tips
Use “Advanced Central Search” to search groups of databases arranged by general subjects.
Use the “Basic Search” to search a combination of specific databases you select from the list.
Limiting your search to 4 or 5 databases at a time or one subject area results in quicker response times for search results.
Searching all of the databases at one time may mean you have to wait up to couple of minutes for your search results to be compiled by the search engine.
Use quotes to search a phrase, e.g., “gun control”
When doing an author search, begin by inverting the name, e.g., twain, mark
However, try it both ways.
Reminder
When doing in-depth research, you will get better results by searching databases directly, as direct searches within each database allow use of thesauri and filters/limiting options.
Systematic downloading of large amounts of material in a short period of time (such as all abstracts and/or full text articles from entire journal issues) is strictly prohibited by publishers. Failure by patrons to comply with this restriction may result in the loss of access by all users to a particular resource.
