University Archives

University Archives contains yearbooks dating from the University's founding, The Gateway student newspaper, general college catalogs from 1911 to the present, the latest newsletters from departments and colleges throughout campus, Board of Regents meeting minutes, programs of campus events, and records of campus organizations. Archives also includes extensive photograph, negatives, and slide collections. Current issues of the Gateway are also online at www.unogateway.com

A large collection of UNO Masters, Senior Honors, and Writer's Workshop theses and Ph.D. dissertations is also located in Archives. One copy of each thesis or dissertation, usually the original, is retained in University Archives and may not be circulated. A second copy is sent to the general circulating collection which can be located via the Criss Library Catalog or available electronically via the library's Electronic Thesis and Disserations service.

Location and Hours

University Archives is located on the first floor of the University Library. The area is open for supervised use Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Other times are available by appointment.

Finding Aids

Finding aids serve as guides to specific collections within the University Archives.

Presentations

Archives staff are available to speak to groups on or off campus. Topics include UNO history, organizing archival materials, and the preservation of primary source materials. For further information, contact Les Valentine, University Archivist.
