Does the Library proof my Thesis?

No. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your thesis submissions.

When will my thesis be cataloged?

Cataloging of theses and dissertations is performed only after you have graduated. If you have turned in your thesis early, it will be held for cataloging after you graduate. Cataloging is complete usually within 2 months after graduation.

Masters, Educational Specialists, and Doctoral Dissertations

All UNO theses and dissertations for masters, educational specialist or doctoral degrees are now required to be submitted electronically. Complete details are available from the Graduate Office.

How can I obtain copies?

During the electronic submission process you will have an opportunity to purchase copies. UNO will not bind copies. Your dissertation or thesis will be available electronically through Dissertations and Theses @ UNO.

Will a print copy of my thesis or dissertations be available in the library?

The library will acquire, catalog and store one printed copy of each thesis or dissertation. The library will purchase and process the archival copy at no expense to the student. No action is required by the student to assure that a copy will be placed in the library archives.

Honor's Theses, Writer's Workshop and Creative Theses (M.F.A.)

What will binding my thesis copies cost?

$9.00 per copy.

If I decide I want additional copies bound at a later date, can I submit them to the Library?

What is an Archive copy, and how does it differ from other copies?

The Archive copy is a permanent, non-circulating master copy, held in the Archives Division. It is used to make replacement circulating copies, and to serve as a record of scholarship at UNO. The Archive copy should be on 20 lb. Bond paper, and must have original acceptance signatures. Illustrations, graphs, etc., also must be original. OTHER DISTRIBUTION DESIGNATIONS: Place a post-it note on signature page. Designations placed on the envelopes will be lost!

How long after I submit my thesis can I expect to pick up my personal copies?

Bindery shipments are sent out every two weeks, and are usually back within three weeks. Callbacks for errors and omissions will significantly delay return of your thesis copies.

Where will I pick up my personal copies?

At the offices of your academic department.

How can I track my thesis in the system?

  1. Your theses copies will be sent for binding in the next available binding shipment. Return is generally expected in 4-8 weeks.
  2. Check the Library's web site for information on when your thesis will be available.
  3. When your thesis is returned to your department for distribution, the "available" date will be filled in.
  4. When your thesis is cataloged, the title will be linked to the GENISYS record for your thesis.
