<p>Paul Theroux’s book celebrates 50 years of wandering the globe and contains some of the best writing from the books that shaped him as a reader and traveler.  Part philosophical guide, part miscellany, part reminiscence, The Tao of Travel contains excerpts from the best of Theroux’s own work interspersed with selections from travelers both familiar and unexpected:  Nabokov, Welty, Waugh, Baldwin, Dickens, Thoreau, Chekhov, Twain, Hemingway, Greene and many others.</p>
<p>Discussion leader Robert Runyon is Dean Emeritus of the UNO Library.<br />
He was first director and then dean of the library from 1978 &#8211; 2000.  Prior to his appointment at UNO, Mr. Runyon served as Supervisor of Technical Services at the Eisenhower Library of Johns Hopkins University, after which he was Associate Director of the Marriott Library at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City.  Mr. Runyon and his wife, Sheila, are tireless travelers, having recently visited India.</p>

<p>Criss Library recently purchased IBISWorld, a database containing 700+ Industry Market Research Reports.  As the demand for global industry and company information increases in the areas of business research, marketing information, communication and advertising access to these reports is critical. As well as US industry research, IBISWorld also contains reports for Australia, China and Great Britain. The industry reports for each country have their own databases and can be accessed separately or through the Global Industry Reports tab on the main IBISWorld home page. </p>

<p>Full-Time: Struggle and Satisfaction in Working America explores what it means and what it takes to earn a living and to make a life in our country.  Inspired, in part, by the music of Bruce Springsteen, the work in Full-Time chronicles part of the dark side of the American Dream through the eyes of people for whom it may never be more than an unattainable standard. Each show includes a gourmet meal, gallery exhibition, and original performance. All performances occur at the Criss Library on the UNO campus.</p>

<p>Dr. Juliette Parnell of the UNO French Department will be sharing her knowledge of the French system of education and how these pioneering Americans achieved so much for themselves and our country.  Born and raised in France, Dr. Parnell is an expert in nineteenth-century French Literature. She has been on the UNO faculty for 20 years, teaching classes on French films, French civilization, contemporary French culture and French business and serves as Director of the UNO Summer Abroad Program in Besançon, France. She was awarded the Alumni Outstanding Teaching Award in 2008, the Star Award and the Foreign Language Teaching Award from Nebraska in 2006 and 2007.</p>
