Criss Library has received a significant gift from the UNO Library Friends organization. The Friends have pledged $25,000 to support the Early American Newspapers and Documents Collection, an extensive online resource that supports research in history, culture and genealogy. “We had only a fraction of this material on microfilm which kept breaking due to heavy use” said Library Dean Steve Shorb. “Thanks to the Friends, we now have an easy to use online system covering 700 newspapers from 1690 to 1876.” The UNO Library Friends has over 400 members who support the library through programs, activities and contributions to strengthen the library’s collections and services.
