Criss Library Renovation News Updates

While we're hard at work, under our feet, first floor renovation chugs on—and a lot of it. Read the latest renovation update to see the latest photos and find out where the renovation stands. The renovation timeline gives a detailed look at what is coming up, and more importantly, what the new look will bring.

Classroom Space at Criss Library Limited During May and June.

As we prepare to enter the second phase of library renovation, classroom 207 is closing on May 21. Classroom 204 will remain open until the newly renovated classrooms on the first floor open in early July. We will continue to accept library instruction requests and encourage summer session faculty to submit their requests as soon as possible. Library instruction for classes will take precedence over other use during this time. In the event that classroom is scheduled during your requested time, Librarians will also be available to visit your classrooms or schedule other lab space.

Please submit to your library instruction requests to your subject specialist Librarian or Jon Minkner or by calling 554-3003.

Kindles Are Here!

The wireless, portable device from Amazon has instant access to downloading over 100,000 books.

"We will offer Kindles as a much faster alternative to inter-library loans," said Library Dean Steve Shorb. "If you need a book that is not in our collection, we can download it wirelessly in less than three minutes, and then have immediate access to the material you need."

The Kindle is simple to use - no cables, computer or wires are needed. The devices are lightweight, portable and can hold over 200 titles, "don't be surprised if the Kindle you borrow has not only your requested book, but many others as well", said Shorb.

To start exploring what they have to offer, go to the circulation desk at the library today!
